Xiaomi, a leading smartphone maker, has set up its Wuhan headquarters in China’s Optics Valley, located in Hubei province.
The company also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Wuhan municipal government at the opening ceremony on June 29.
According to the agreement, the two sides will follow the Belt and Road Initiative and the Made in China 2025 plan to promote the company’s development and boost the city’s economy.
Xiaomi will introduce more areas of its business to Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, including retail, artificial intelligence and finance, in a bid to create an intelligent business environment.
The cooperation with Xiaomi is a significant opportunity for Wuhan government to push forward the development of the private sector and to improve the whole industrial chain of chips, display screens, and intelligent terminals in the zone.
