China’s first freight train linking Wuhan and France launched

On April 6, the freight train bound for Lyon started from Wujiashan Station in Wuhan, capital city of central China, marking the launching of first China-Europe freight train to France in the country.

It was introduced that the trian will cross border at Alataw pass, and pass through six countries as Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Germany, etc, totally runing 11,300 kilometers and taking around 16 days. Therefrom, the Wuhan-Xinjiang-Europe freight route is able to extend hundreds of kilometers to the southwest of its now terminal Duisburg in Germany.

In the first quarter this year, Wuhan-Xinjiang-Europe freight trains have run 39 shifts and transported 3,512 TEUs of goods, outnumbering the total shipment in 2014. In the near future, the freight trains linking Wuhan with Iran, Finland and Sweden will also be opened.
