The 9th China Bioindustry Convention and 2016 1st International Bio-Expo, Optics Valley of China, kicked off on July 5 in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei province. Over 600 domestic and overseas bio-pharmaceutical enterprises gathered in Hubei for the first time, discussing about the 1000-billion-level big health industry.
BGI, the largest genomic organization in the world, brought its independently developed BGISEQ-500 sequenator, which could finish the whole process from DNA sample to data analysis within 24 hours with an accuracy of 99.99%. This world leading equipment breaks the monopoly of foreign sequenator technology.
At the exhibition hall of biological products, Thermo Fisher, the world’s largest scientific apparatus, reagent and service provider, exhibited eight advanced instruments, including mycoplasma detection system, glycoform appraisal system, etc. According to principal of Thermo Fisher (China), since settlement in Biolake, the company has cooperated with several organizations in Hubei like Humanwell.
As introduced, in 2015, the total revenue of enterprises in Wuhan Biolake reached 80 billion yuan, accounting for 40% of bioindustry in Hubei. Bio-pharmaceutical and health industry is a strategic emerging industry of China and Hubei, as well as one of the three major emerging industries of Wuhan.
