The general plan for the Sino-French Wuhan Ecological Demonstration City was approved on February 21 by the Hubei provincial government, after two years of hard work by a team of French and Chinese experts.

The development goals of the demonstration city project are to connect the "Made in China 2025" plan and France's "Industry of the Future" in Wuhan and to promote SinoFrench cooperation in modern industries. A Sino-French ecology & technology valley and a Sino-French international cooperation & innovation zone will be built by taking advantage of international platforms.

Currently, the construction of Sino-French Wuhan Ecological Demonstration City is going smoothly. The Chinese side has established a coordination team, involving 13 national, provincial, and municipal administrations.

According to the plan, the demonstration city will be developed into a Sino-French international cooperation & innovation zone, a national green development pioneering zone, a national sustainable development demonstration zone, and a high-level platform for the opening up of Hubei Province.

Ten projects affiliated with the project have been either finished or being carried out. The construction of Sino-French Friendship Bridge, Houguan Lake National Wetland Park, Tongji Hospital of Sino-French Ecological Demonstration City branch, Ma'anshan Zhiyin Cultural Park, and Renault experimentation zone for selfdriving cars have been completed.

Meanwhile, the Wuhan Metro Caidian line, Sino-French Ecological Demonstration City tram line, and the permanent location for Sino-French sustainable urban development forum are under construction.
