Wuhan to construct China “Satellite Valley” in 10 years

The industrial development planning and conceptual general planning of Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) General Aviation & Satellite Industrial Park have obtained unanimous approval of experts, according to WEDZ on Nov. 5, 2015.


Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province will build a China “Satellite Valley” by 2025. The “Satellite Valley”, whose annual production value is estimated to reach 100 billion Yuan (15.75 billion U.S. dollars), will focus on general aviation and satellite industry.


The General Aviation & Satellite Industrial Park is designed to be located in Shamao Street of Hannan District. Covering a total area of about 23.6 square km, it will be divided into satellite industry area, business area, airport core function area, general aviation R&D manufacture area, comprehensive bonded zone, general aviation community, air sports leisure area. It 2025, the industrial park will be built into the regular base of the International Aeronautic Federation (FAI) WFE, China air sports industry and China “Satellite Valley”, new general aviation demonstration of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, regional general aviation pub and Wuhan’s future corporate aircraft base.


As known, the General Aviation & Satellite Industrial Park has reached cooperation intentions with CSIC 701 Institute, CLP 54 Institute, Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), etc. And a batch of projects covering general aviation electronics manufacturing, satellite and navigation electronics manufacturing, final assembly, exhibition, trade, maintenance & operation of helicopter, flight training, etc. are expected to be signed by the end of 2015.


It is estimated that by 2020, an industrial system that integrates small size general-purpose plane manufacturing, airplane parts manufacturing, flight training, operation and maintenance, exhibition and trade, satellite equipment manufacturing and satellite application corporate headquarter will be built. Besides, industries such as aviation exhibition, aviation sports, aviation tourism, aviation leisure and entertainment will be development.


As introduced, the first FAI WFE will be held in WEDZ General Aviation & Satellite Industrial Park in October 2017. By then, over 1,000 fliers from more than 60 countries, about 450 aircrafts from home and abroad, and over 300 aviation materials and equipment producers will participate in the exhibition. The event will attract estimated more than 600,000 audiences.
