The port logistics development planning of Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) passed the evaluation on April 5, 2016. Wuhan will built a important hub of southwest China and the shipping center in middle reaches of Yangtze River in WEDZ, and the port logistics industry is hopeful to become the new hundred billion economic entity in five years.

After completion, 5000-ton ships can set out from the port of WEDZ and directly arrive in Ningbo Port for seagoing vessel assembly, which will reduce the costs of landway transfer.

Located along the Yangtze River, WEDZ boasts a bank line of 62km, which provides rich natural resources for developing port logistics. As introduced, the port district to be constructed will be a new town of port logistics with its own industrial chain.

At present, the port area of WEDZ is applying for national first-class open port. With an investment of 3.5 billion Yuan, the Central China Automobile Industry Logistics Park, which is focus on import and export of finished automobiles, has begun construction. Taiding Container Wharf, with an investment of 5 billion Yuan, has been signed. Wuhan Ships Trading Center with an investment of 150 million Yuan is under construction. Zall Roll-on Wharf, with an annual throughput of 250,000 finished automobiles has been put into operation.

The port area aims to build a high-standard “international shipping service center”, providing “custom clearance” services. So far, the Dengnan-Tongjin port logistics park, Shamao-Junshan port logistics park and Zhuankou logistics park have started full construction.
