China Optics Valley which is located in Wuhan, capital city of central China’s Hubei province, has been becoming a new promised land for the global returnees to innovate and start undertakings. It has invested one billion yuan (161.3 million U.S.dollars) to attract more than 2,000 talent teams at home and abroad in five years, according to a press conference held by Hubei government on May 26, 2015.
Born in 70s or 80s, the five elites Xie Ming, Chen Kangkang, Luo Xuan, Long Hanping and Wan Bo who came back from the USA or Britan, received hot pursuit at the press for their expertise in the fields of new materials, fiber laser, integrated circuit or e-buisness.
At the end of 2009, the Optics Valley firstly proposed to establish talents SAR and launched the “3551 Plan”, namely, in 3 years, in 5 pillar fields, introduce in 50 leading talents and 1,000 high-level talents.
The Optics Valley seeks talents, especially the overseas high-level talents, with eagerness. In addition to take every opportunity of government's investment activity overseas, it also sets up liaison offices in the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Japan and Australia to promote itself to the global brain.
Now, five years passed, the “3551 Plan” has become a gold-lettered signboard of Optics Valley. Among 772 selected candidates of the plan, 70 percent had overseas work or education background while more than a quarter were foreigners by now. 7,000 people who started their undertakings here were PhD.
In 2014, registration of the eighth “3551 Plan” was launched. The Optics Valley initiated a talent fund reaching 0.1 billion yuan (16.13 million U.S.dollars) at the first stage, to attract the global talents. (hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
