Torch High Technology Industry Development Center, owned by the Ministry of Science and Technology, recently published a list of identified high-tech companies in 2017.
A total of 721 companies in East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China), Wuhan, central China’s Hubei province, were on the list, representing a year-on-year growth of 48.97 percent.
The number also accounts for 31.68 percent and 56.33 percent of high-tech companies identified in Hubei province and Wuhan city, respectively.
Until now, 1,851 companies in Optics Valley of China have been identified as high-tech companies, ranking fourth among the country’s high-tech zones, following Beijing's Zhongguancun Science Park, Shanghai's Zhangjiang High-tech Park, and Shenzhen High-tech Zone.
The newly-identified high-tech companies in the zone are mainly in fields such as electronic information technology, new materials, the high-tech service industry, biology, and medical technology, and 48.03 percent of the companies are in the field of electronic information technology.
Most of the newly-identified companies in the zone are small and medium-sized enterprises, which have realized the transformation of 6,044 scientific and technological achievements over the past three years.
