With investment of 5 billion yuan ($770 million), the Wuhan base for Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare (UIH) commenced construction at Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China), Hubei province, on Dec 29.
Covering an area of 176 mu (11.73 hectares), the agreement for the project was signed on July 27, 2017.
UIH is a company that mainly offers advanced medical equipment and information technology solutions, including diagnostic imaging devices and radiation therapy equipment, as well as medical information technology solutions.
Following completion, UIH’s Wuhan base will become one of the country's largest research and development, production and operation centers in fields such as medical wearable technology, medical big data and artificial intelligence.
Xue Min, UIH’s chairman and chief executive officer, said that the company will build the base into a new landmark for the zone, and ensure the smooth progress of the project.
The base is to boost the development of the biohealth industry in Optics Valley of China, and in Wuhan.
