Internet industry in Optics Valley sees swift growth

The third “Internet plus” innovation and development forum was held at East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, Hubei province, on Jan 28, with participation of more than 500 guests.


According to statistics, 24 Internet companies, including Xiaomi, iFLYTEK and Xiaohongshu, set up their second headquarters in Optics Valley of China in 2017, covering areas including artificial intelligence, internet education, transportation, and internet security.


The companies have so far provided tens of thousands of job opportunities.


In 2017, total financing for the “Internet plus” industry in the zone exceeded 7 billion yuan ($1.1 billion), an increase of 75 percent compared to the same period in 2016, and more than 30 companies received investment of over 100 million yuan.


Three companies –– Douyu, Wuhan BIDOSTAR Beidou Technology and BMKP, received the most investment in 2017.


Large investments mostly went into industries including artificial intelligence, culture and entertainment, healthcare, convenient transportation, and efficient logistics.
