MediaTek, the world’s fourth largest integrated circuit (IC) design company, is to establish the second phase of its Wuhan research and development center in the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China), according to recent news.
Playing a leading role in the field of IC design, MediaTek has ranked among the top three in the world for many years in mobile communications solutions.
The first phase of its Wuhan research and development center was established in Optics Valley of China in 2010; it mainly provided IC designs for tablet personal computers, Blu-ray players, and digital TVs.
With investment of 350 million yuan ($54.95 million), the second phase of the center will focus on IC designs for vehicle electronics and smart homes.
