The National Information Optoelectronics Innovation Center was established at FiberHome Technologies Group’s industrial park, which is located in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China), on April 26.
Miao Wei, director of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, attended the unveiling ceremony.
At present, the center includes an optoelectronic chip processing platform and an optoelectronic integrated research and development platform, which is home to an expert committee composed of 10 academicians and 17 industry experts.
The center will focus on applications in fields including new generation networks, 5G communications, high-end materials, and core chip technologies, to promote the development of home-made optoelectronic chips and devices.
It is expected that after three to five years, the center will develop into a world-class innovation platform for information and the optoelectronics manufacturing sector.
