Yichang, central China’s Hubei province, launched construction of a new ecological and intellectual industry city on July 6th, local media reported.
With an investment of 40 billion Yuan (USD 6.4 billion) by China Railway Signal & Communication Corporation (CRSC), the ecological and intellectual industry city plans to build an industrial platform measuring over 1,500,000 square meters.
According to the chairman of CRSC, the new city will be built into a combination of high and new technology research and development base, ecological intelligence test area and green living demonstration area.
The ecological and intellectual industry city of Yichang aims to introduce 50 World Top 500 enterprises and leading enterprises in the industry, employ 50,000 industry personnel and facilitate the settlement of 800 companies within five years.
At present, more than 20 World Top 500 enterprises and well-known leading enterprises both at home and abroad, including IBM, Cisco, Accenture, Deutsche Telekom AG, Huawei and China Potevio have reached intentions of settlement with the new city.
Originated in 1953, CRSC keeps close relationship with the development of Chinese railways, and has made great contributions to railway control industry. CRSC is now expanding its business from national railway signal & communication to the transportation information and control integration, operating in scores of different sectors such as urban transit, mine railway, harbors, airports and express highways.
