The first Wuhan-made Motorola handset was carried out by an unmanned plane on June 11, marking the realization of mass production of Motorola handsets in Optics Valley in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province. In the future, over three fourths Motorola handsets in the world will be made in Optics Valley.

Since the acquisition of Motorola Mobility in October 2014, Lenovo has planned to move its production line to Wuhan. The Motorola global center for research and development and quality-testing officially settled in Optics Valley on March 22, 2015.

At present, Lenovo (Wuhan) Industrial Base is one of the enterprises with 10 billion output value in Wuhan. It has nearly 4,800 workers, and 2,000 more will be employed with the production of Motorola.

According to previous plan, the Wuhan base will produce 16 million Motorola handsets in 2015, with an estimated output value of 15 billion Yuan (US$ 2.4 billion).
Lenovo also plans to build Motorola mobile terminal device global industrial park in Wuhan Eastlake Free Trade Zone in next 3 years.
