Japan's largest trading company Mitsubishi Corporation has opened a new branch in Wuhan, a major transportation hub and capital of central China's Hubei province.
The branch, the company's first one in central China, opened Tuesday, said an official with the city's foreign affairs office.
The new branch is expected to help expand Mitsubishi's business in the nation's fast-growing central areas, said Yano Masahide, vice president of the company.
Mitsubishi Corporation, a member of the Mitsubishi Group, currently has over 200 branches in around 80 countries. Its business covers several sectors, including finance, banking, energy, machinery and chemicals, among others.
Japan is one of Wuhan's biggest foreign investors. More than 200 Japanese companies, such as Honda and Nissan, have branches in Wuhan.
