Hubei yields fruits in opening up and commercial business

Central China's Hubei Province witnessed rapid development in opening up and inviting investment, local reports said.

From January to July 2011, the actual utilized foreign direct investment in Hubei Province amounted to US$3.23 billion, rising 22 percent year on year. 1,680 projects using capital from other provinces were introduced into Hubei, with an actual capital of 334 billion Yuan (US$52.67 billion), equivalent to the total amount of 2011.

In 2011, the total import and export volume of service trade in the province was around US$ 4.1 billion, with a year-on-year growth of nearly forty percent, ranking eleventh nationwide and first in central China.

Over the past five years, the key indicators of Hubei's "going out" leapt to the top 10 of China.

In 2011, the province's international engineering business turnover was of approximately US$ 4.1 billion, 6.5 times that of 2007, ranking sixth in China and first in the country's central region.

In the first seven months of this year, the province's foreign contracted projects completed the turnover of US$ 2.4 billion, with a year-on-year growth of 14.5 percent, ranking sixth in China and first in the country's central region.

100 World Top 500 Enterprises set up its business in Hubei as Fresenius Kabi, one of business segments of the German health-care Fresenius Group became the 100th.
