The Fresenius Kabi, one of business segments of the German health-care Fresenius Group, would invest 200 million Yuan (about 31.5 million U.S.dollars) to build its first antineoplastic production base and research center in Wuhan Biolake of central China's Hubei Province on September 9.
So far, Hubei has ushered in a hundred overseas World Top 500 Enterprises, outnumbering others in the six central provinces.
The overseas World Top 500 Enterprises invested in Hubei have been increasing steadily since 1987, among which, the majority settled in the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Zone and the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone. Many of them engaged in the industries of automobiles and auto parts, optoelectronic information, high-end equipment manufacturing and biomedicine, with a total investment of over 100 billion Yuan (about 15.6 billion U.S.dollars).
The World Top 500 Enterprises began to flood into Hubei since 1992. And in the following four years, there were 18 enterprises invested in Hubei's capital city Wuhan. The second investment boom was between 1999 and 2002 when there were 10 enterprises came and invested in the service industry of Hubei while between 2003 and 2004, there were 13 to Wuhan
The recent four to five years is another investment boom and only in the first half of this year, there was one World Top 500 Enterprise settled in Hubei every month on average.
The geographical location of Hubei, especially Wuhan, as well as the talent advantage and investment environment have attract the World Top 500 Enterprises to choose Wuhan as a bridgehead into the central and western China.
The World Top 500 Enterprises not only brought in advanced technology and management, but also attracted a large quantity of domestic and foreign enterprises to get together, forming a competitive industry cluster and upgraded the industry structure of Hubei and Wuhan.
The number of the World Top 500 Enterprises reflects the international level of a region. Hubei is expected to introduce more World Top 500 Enterprises to boost the construction of promoting the rise of central strategic fulcrum.
