The Consulate General of France in Wuhan, capital city of central China's Hubei Province, held a grand Bastille Day reception on July 14, 2012, celebrating the world-famous French national day.

Tian Chengzhong, Hubei's vice governor, Consul General of France in Wuhan M. Serge Lavroff and the South Korean Consul General in Wuhan Han Gwangsup, attended the reception.

Tian spoke highly of Hubei-France relationship in a speech he made. He said the past 30 years witnessed a robust bilateral cooperation relationship between Hubei and France with widening cooperation scope and richer cooperation contents, making Hubei the French investment hub in China.

In 2011, the total two-way trade volume between Hubei and France topped US$810 million, a year-on-year growth of 12.4 per cent. The export and import volume reached US$160 million and US$ 650 million respectively, a year-on-year increase of 21.8 per cent and 10.4 per cent respectively.

Besides, the cooperation between Hubei and France is moving towards further diversification, setting foot in such business fields as automobile, energy, gold resources, retailing, high and new technology, transportation and so on.

Last November, the two sides signed eight cooperation projects including the direct flights between Wuhan and Paris, which greatly expands the bilateral cooperation space.

This year, the French week was also successfully held in Wuhan, and there were as many as 27 events covering business, trade, science and technology, education, culture and other various fields.
