16 more Fortune Global 500 corporations settled in Hubei in 2014, according to Department of Commerce of Hubei Province on January 20. The total number of Fortune Global 500 corporations in Hubei amounted to 228, among which 159 corporations were overseas-based, ranking first in central China.
As China implements the strategy for the rise of the central region in recent years, Hubei, especially its capital city Wuhan, with its geographical advantages, rich talent resources and favorable investment climate, is attracting more and more Fortune Global 500 corporations.
Hubei witnessed the settlement of six Fortune Global 500 corporations in the first half of 2014. They are Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group of Japan, AXA Group of France, Walt Disney Company of the United States, Alliance Boots and Compass Group of Britain and Assicurazioni Generali of Italy.
At present, Fortune Global 500 corporations in Hubei are mostly from developed countries and regions such as Europe, the United States, Japan, etc. They are mostly involved in high-end manufacturing and modern service industry such as automobiles and auto parts, photoelectron and communication, petrochemical engineering, financial industry, etc.
According to statistics, the actual use of foreign capital in Hubei reached 7.93 billion U.S. dollars in 2014, a year-on-year growth of 15.1 percent.
Besides, the import-export volume of Hubei province reached a record high of 43.06 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 18.4 percent year on year. 16 overseas investment projects were approved, with more than 400 Hubei enterprises making investments and setting branches in 70 countries and regions around the world.
