The first proton and heavy ion therapy cancer treatment center in Asia settled in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province, on May 10, local media reported.
Under the witness of Health and Family Planning Commission of Hubei and Wuhan, Kaifang Group signed a project intention letter with Japan’s Hitachi Company.
Proton and heavy ion therapy is a leading edge technique for cancer treatment, with improved accuracy and reduced harm.
The cancer treatment center in Wuhan, first of its kind in Asia, will be located in Jianghan District with an estimated total investment of 4 billion Yuan (US$ 0.64 billion) and 5,000 beds. The center is scheduled to be opened in 2018.
