Optics Valley sees growth in transactions of technology

East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, central China’s Hubei province, released a report on development of the zone’s technology market in 2017, on March 27.

The zone saw steady growth in transactions concerning technology over the past six years, with average growth of 29.14 percent annually in turnover.

In 2017, 9,017 technology contracts were signed, with a turnover of 22.37 billion yuan ($3.56 billion), marking a year-on-year increase of 14.28 percent.

Out of the four types of transactions concerning technology –– technological development, technology transfer, technology consulting and technical services –– technical services took first place.

Among all types of transactions concerning technology, turnover of those concerning intellectual property accounted for 44.8 percent of the total.

Transactions concerning technology in the electronic information field ranked first among all sectors, followed by transportation.

Additionally, technologies from companies in Optics Valley of China were mainly exported to Hubei province, Beijing, and Guangdong province.
