Wuhan Eastlake Free Trade Zone (Optics Valley), shared its experience in cross-border electronic commerce at a promotion activity on July 31 in Huangshi, Central China's Hubei province.Officials from Hubei Provincial Department of Commerce, and the municipal departments of commerce in Huangshi, Huanggang, Xianning and Ezhou, as well as representatives from more than 80 cross-border e-commerce companies, attended the event.
Taking advantage of information technology, the cross-border e-commerce public service platform in Optics Valley facilitates interaction between government departments, companies, institutions and customers.
Wuhan Eastlake Free Trade Zone , a special area supervised by Wuhan's customs department, was authorized to introduce cross-border e-commerce on December 24, 2015. It is a public service platform with simplified customs clearance procedures for cross-border e-commerce products, and offers reduced business costs.
The public service platform doubles the efficiency of customs clearance procedures and cuts the cost of domestic logistics by 20 percent compared to other areas.
"Promoting a cross-border e-commerce public service platform in the Wuhan area opens a new port for the province which will enhance the development of cross-border e-commerce in Hubei province," said an official of Hubei Provincial Department of Commerce.
The promotion will also be held in Yichang and Xiangyang, to promote cross-border e-commerce in Hubei's other areas.
