Chinese and French urbanists plan for Sino-French eco-city

18 French urbanists arrived in Wuhan on Dec. 15 to work together with their Hubei counterparts to start initial planning study of Sino-French Wuhan Ecological Demonstration City.

The French delegation consists of experts from fields of energy, water, garbage, air, green architecture, biological diversity, transportation, economy, etc. They would come up with a preliminary design after a 7-day investigation in Wuhan, and one of them would stay to cooperate with Hubei side.

Located in Houguan Lake area in Caidian District of Wuhan city, the Sino-French Wuhan Ecological Demonstration City will cover 32 square kilometers, with Shi Lake in the center and convenient highway and railway transportation system.

The urban planning bureau of Wuhan hoped to construct an ecological gallery that pass through the eco-city, protect biological diversity and water environment, build a Sino-French culture street in the southern area, and duplicate the model of French Annecy town in a peninsula of Houguan Lake.
